It only takes a secord or two to download and I hope it will help you stay current on all things hockey. If you like what you hear please leave some positive feedback so it can be highly rated.
For the past 8 years I have been lucky enough to work for the Fox Sports Radio Network as an update anchor and sometimes show co-host. For 3 years I was also a part of our west coast morning show Out of Bounds. The two co-host of the show were not hockey fans and I would get upset and say “We can’t even take a minute to talk about hockey?” So they finally agreed to do just that, give me 60 seconds to talk about the previous day’s hockey news and…the Hockey Minute was born. Unfortunately, due to the economy the show was cancelled and replaced with a syndicated show this past December ending the Hockey Minute. However, I think it’s time for the Hockey Minute to return. Starting on Monday, June 22, I plan to record a minute (or so) of the previous day’s top hockey news. It will be posted here, on Eddie’s Page, as well as being available to be downloaded on iTunes. I will be recording the show Monday through Friday. My hope is that the Hockey Minute will keep you plugged into the NHL on a daily basis and increase your knowledge and enjoyment of the great game of hockey.
On Saturday, April 6, 2009, I followed….myself around with a video camera to show what a typical Saturday during the hockey season is like for me. We start with a behind the scenes look at the recording of the Puck Podcast with clips of the actual broadcast and a chat with co-host Doug Stolhand. Later you’ll see me relaxing at home watching more hockey on TV then any one married man should be allowed to all with the loving support of my wife Karen. Finally we hit the ice for some THRILLING adult hockey league action with Team Kaustick including a stirring pregame speech from captain Marc Posner and a career game from me. It’s all a “Day in the Life” with Eddie Garcia.
I hope to add more video segments on my page in the future. Here is my first video showing you where Doug and I do the show every Saturday.
About Me
I’m definitely not your typical hockey fan. I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and raised in Central California. The small town I grew up in had a roller rink but did not have an ice rink. I never even knew hockey existed growing up. My passion for the game didn’t start until I was in college at Fresno State.
After growing tired of the NBA, I decided to give the NHL a try and the only team I could watch on a consistent basis was California’s only team at the time, the LA Kings. The first year I started following the Kings they made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals only to lose to the Montreal Canadiens. At the same time, my college roommate got me involved in playing roller hockey on some local tennis courts with some friends.
As a self professed sports know-it-all I was intrigued by this new game that I found incredibly entertaining and fun to play but really didn’t know much about. Since then my passion and knowledge for hockey has grown and grown each year. After moving to Los Angeles I started playing ice hockey and have been playing year round for about 10 years now. I’m currently playing for Team Kaustick that plays at The Ice Palace in Aliso Viejo, California.
Professionally, I have worked in radio and TV for 25 years, the last 9 years at the Fox Sports Radio Network. I’m currently an update anchor for the network working mornings Monday through Saturday on over 200 affiliates across the country and on XM Channel 152.
I’m currently living in Mission Viejo, CA and am married to my wife Karen who is becoming a Kings fan.
