Don Beck of Youngstown, Ohio, sent me an e-mail asking me to mention a charity hockey game for minor league player Jason Baird that took place earlier this month. Baird, who has played with the Erie Otters, Cincinnati Cyclones, Indianapolis Ice, Corpus Christi Rays and most recently the Youngstown Steelhounds, was severely burned during an accident while working in the off season and his career had to be put on hold. The father of three suffered second and third degree burns over 65% of his body and will need months of treatment and rehabilitation in the Akron Burn Unit. He is in need of financial and emotional help while he is recovering. The good news is that the game raised $34,000 for the Baird Family. If you want to make a donation or if you just want to post along a note of encouragement to Jason Baird you can go to www.caringbridge.org/visit/jasonbaird
It’s the biggest game in the history of hockey!
