Canada won the WJC Gold 5-1 last night. The CAN showed that they are the best in the world.

Eariler in the day for the bronze medal, Russia downed Slovakia 5-2

BTW: Here's the forum that I belong to.

Hey guys,

I've been a huge hockey fan for years and recently discovered your show and love it. Can't get enough pucks. I just listened to your most recent show and wanted to share the comments that I was making to myself.

1. I find it ironic that Peter Forsberg's health is being asked about by Adam FOOTE. That's like Jeff Finger asking Joe Sakic when he'll be back.

2. When the Canadiens played their "home" game in Florida, it was the 3,000th regular season win in franchise history, so that may explain the disproportionally large Habs crowd. Also, I'm in total agreement that this really is the team's 99th season.

3. The Grand Rapids Griffins won't play the Worcester Sharks this year, but I'd like to see an AHL rematch of Darren McCarty vs. Claude Lemieux.

Lookin' forward to the next show!

While we were not able to get to the Winter Classic, my wife and I were at the Joe two days earlier for the 4-0 blanking of Chicago by Detroit. 4th row, section 123 (next to the bench), and it was fantastic - especially for my wife's first NHL game. She got a practice puck and met Rafalski and Datsuk (her fave Wing) after the game, and got their autographs on the puck. We also hit Cheli's before the game and Hockeytown Cafe after. I am afraid I may have set the bar pretty high - she is still ecstatic.

I think Chicago's last loss before their great winning streak was also to the Wings. All roads to the cup will be passing thru Detroit this year, for sure.

Dear Eddie & Doug

Firstly Thankyou for your podcasts they are brilliant, we dont get much hockey on the TV/Radio so your show is a must every week.
What i would like to pick you up on is the issue you both have with the NHL teams starting the season abroad, i was in LONDON when the Hawks played the Habs in Aug 92 (The Habs went on to win the Stanley cup that year) and again when the Rangers played the Leafs a year later(The Rangers went on the win the Stanley cup that year to)
Sadly i was not able to attend the Ducks game last year but i can only congratulate the NHL for letting the rest of the world see what the North Americans take for granted, long may it continue.
As a fair exchange i understand our Premier league football teams sometimes tour the USA pre-season so it isn't just the NHL who are trying to let everyone else see different sports, come on guys learn to share !!

Thanks

Hi Doug,

1) I found the show through searching NHL on iTunes

2) My favourite team are the Detroit Redwings. Long story this one but as i said earlier, not paid any attention to the NHL until I bought NHL 09 for the 360 and loved it (still do) so much that i started to pay more attention to the real NHL. Anyway, tried a few teams while playing NHL 09 but ended up with the Redwings as their home jersey is similar to my local football (or soccer as it's known in the US) team which I support (Middlesbrough FC). Pretty silly reason I know but as I didn't have a clue before, I thought it was a good enough excuse. Since then i've played only as the Redwings. Only to find out later that they are the current holders of the Stanley Cup!!.
Must say though that i'm enjoying watching all the games (whoever plays) and keep up to date through NASN (and now yourselves)

regards,

Simon

Does anyone have any picks for the World Junior Championship Gold and Bronze Medal Games tommorow.

Bronze Medal
Slovakia VS. Russia

Gold Medal
Sweden VS. Canada

In case your wondering what happen with the USA, they lost to Slovakia in the Quarterfinals. The USA goaltending was honderous in our game against SVK back on Friday night.

The USA plays the Czech Republic for 5th place tonight.

Simon,
Thanks for posting and for listening to the show! Eddie and I are always happy to hear from the listeners, especially ones that are living outside of North America. I do have two questions for you. How did you happen to find our show? What's your favorite team and how did they become your favorite?

I'm glad you enjoyed the show and hope you are a loyal listener for years to come.

Sincerely,
Doug Stolhand

Hi Guys,
1st time listener to your podcast and really enjoyed it. Although i am 37, i have only just been interested in ice hockey and in particular the NHL over the last 4 months. Coming from the UK, there's not a lot of coverage of the NHL although i have now subscribed to the only pay channel here in the UK (NASN) which I have really enjoyed watching live matches (not to mention the Winter Classic) and latest gossip. Puck Podcast is a great listen alongside this and looking forward to listening more in the future.

regards,

Simon.
